President
Ron L. Nelson, President of Health Services Associates is a recognized expert in the area of reimbursement and physician payment. He has served on multiple National and State commissions and has testified before Congress on numerous occasions regarding issues related to payment policy. Nelson is the co-founder and first president of the National Association of Rural Health Clinics (see website link to NARHC in news/links section). He has completed a second term as President of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). Nelson has a broad background in both health policy and clinical delivery and is frequently recognized as an expert on cost based reimbursement related to rural health clinics and federally qualified health centers.
Director of Billing Services
Julie A. Wiegand has recently joined Health Services Associates, Inc. as the Director of Billing Services. Mrs. Wiegand has been involved in the medical insurance billing industry for eleven years and has focused her attention towards obtaining the highest level of insurance collections. Her refinement of billing techniques has enabled Rural Health Clinics to realize their full monetary potential. Her focus will be on supervision and training of Rural Health Clinic billing services. Wiegand also holds a BA in Anthropology from the University of Michigan with emphasis in computer programing and French language.
Vice-President
Chris A. Christoffersen is Vice-President of Health Services Associates, Inc. Mrs. Christoffersen has been with Health Services Associates, Inc for over thirteen years and has served in an Administative role and Accountant during this time. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Ferris State University and has been involved with RHC and FQHC cost reporting and certification for over eleven years. She provides financial statistical analysis, cost reporting, rate setting and management services to rural health clinics and FQHC's. Christoffersen has dealt with fiscal intermediaries across the United States and has been involved in the cost reporting process for rural health clinics in 25+ different state agencies.
Administrative Services
Mrs. Pratt has been with Health Services Associates, Inc. for over three years and has brought twenty-one years of experience and skills with her in providing accounting and administrative assistance. Her ability to organize conferences at local, state, and national levels provides our firm with the opportunity to continue educating providers on RHC issues and requirements. Mrs. Pratt holds an Associates Degree in Commerical and Industrial Accounting and is working towards a Bachelors Degree in Accounting with her minor being in Human Resources.
Robin M. VeltKamp is Billing and Enrollment Specialist for Health Services Associates, Inc. Mrs. VeltKamp has recently joined our firm and brings almost 30 years of medical office and billing experience to HSA. She has had training as a Medical Assistant, and has a Bachelors Degree in Health Care Administration. She has worked as a clinical and business Medical Assistant and as a Practice Manager for multiple sites. She has also been a business instructor for Medical Assistant/Administrative Assistant programs. She has worked in Specialty clinics, RHC and FQHC clinics. She has managed billing departments, front desk and coordination of patient flow into the clinical area. She has a strong background in analyzing and maximizing AR, coding and billing, as well as Provider Credentialing and Enrollment.
